LAUREL, Md. (WJLA) — Two Laurel, Maryland twin sisters have started a first-of-its-kind business in the region — a crab delivery service.
The young entrepreneurs, Rae and La Middleton, say they have spent each day for the last six months turning trying times into success.
The Middletons both lost their jobs in March during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We have our culinary degrees and we have been in that world but we got let go in March.”
One day, the sisters were at brunch when they craved crabs. But, not just any crabs.
“We wanted crabs delivered but realized no one in the area delivers” said La.
After putting their heads together, Rae and La decided to take matters into their own hands and launch R and L Crab Company.
“We went home that day and started making flyers,” La said. “We were shocked to get our very first order that day.”
